Recognizing the recent partnership between PhilaPort and Norwegian Cruise Line and celebrating the return of cruising in the City of Philadelphia. WHEREAS, Bringing new businesses and industries to Philadelphia is crucial to growing our local economy and expanding economic opportunity for all; and WHEREAS, PhilaPort has been a leader in the expansion of new business opportunities in the region and through their partnership with International Longshoreman Association Local Union 1291, they have helped Philadelphia create new, family-supporting and sustaining jobs. The announcement of this new collaboration with Norwegian Cruise Line demonstrates the Port’s commitment to continued growth and opportunity; and WHEREAS, Norwegian Cruise Line has a demonstrated commitment as a community partner, expanding and growing their business in new markets and working with local and state partners to create long-term partnerships that create jobs and promote local tourism; and WHEREAS, Beginning in 2026, the Norwegian Jewel will begin taking seven to nine day voyages to Bermuda and ten to eleven day voyages to Canada and New England leaving from PhilaPort’s SouthPort Marine Terminal Complex; and WHEREAS, The Norwegian Jewel will have the capacity to accommodate 2,330 guests and have a variety of amenities for guests to enjoy including sixteen dining options, thirteen bars and lounges, and world class entertainment; and WHEREAS, It is projected that by 2028 this collaboration will build 2,000…
