Honoring and Congratulating Preparatory Charter High School Graduate Kahleah Copper on winning the Gold Medal in Women’s Basketball during the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris France. WHEREAS, Kahleah Copper, a distinguished native of North Philadelphia, attended Girard College and The Preparatory Charter High School, where she excelled in basketball, earning recognition on the All-Public League team, the All-State team in Pennsylvania, and the McDonald’s All-American team; and WHEREAS, Copper played for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Women’s Basketball team from 2012 to 2016, concluding her college career with the third most points in the team’s history; and WHEREAS, Copper was selected as the 7th overall pick in the 2016 WNBA Draft by the Washington Mystics, and was later traded to the Chicago Sky, where she became a starting player, was named an All-Star in 2021, averaged 14.4 points per game, led the team to their first championship, and was named Finals MVP; and WHEREAS, Copper played a pivotal role in aiding Team USA to secure the gold medal at the FIBA World Cup in 2022; and WHEREAS, On February 6, 2024, Copper was traded to the Phoenix Mercury; and WHEREAS, In June 2024, Kahleah Copper was selected to the US Women’s Olympic Basketball Team to compete in the Summer 2024 Olympics in France; and WHEREAS, During the Olympic Games Copper demonstrated her invaluable contribution to Team USA, particularly during the semi-final game against Australia, where she scored 11 point…
